Dan Libertino, himself a student of the guitar since he started in playing in 1975, has been teaching professionally since 1981. He has a passion to see the student transform from novice to confident musician. His philosophy about learning the guitar and teaching the guitar is that if I am not learning and playing the music myself, how can I expect to impart growth to a student? Dan continues to study and learn new music, practicing sight reading, doing music transcribing and writing out new tunes every day.

Dan's teaching studio is in his private residence in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Encinitas. All students will have access to what may be the largest private library of traditional classical guitar scores, flamenco books and a digital file collection of music that would be the envy of many college libraries. A cd collection of over 1000 selections can be used as resources to inspire and teach the aspiring guitar player new music that they may not beware of. The studio has copying capabilities, music recording, editing, lesson recording and real time chart preparation to help the student learn the music of their choosing.
 
His 'old school' approach translates across all styles of guitar playing. From Blues to flat picking country, rock and folk to classic and flamenco, the emphasis on technique and music theory is applied to all styles of guitar. Dan has endeavored to use his experience from hsi study of the spanish classical guitar to organize a linear approach and methodology to all electric and steel string guitar playing.
